"indiana blues...not really!"

here it is...are you ready...ARE YOU READY?!?!?

INDIANA RUNDOWN!!!

so i left thursday morning, at the buttcrack of dawn, to leave for indiana...to a place i knew relatively nothing about, to meet tons of new people who obviously had NO idea of what to expect from me!! was i ready? of course not. i was terrified. i had no idea what these people were going to be like, if they were even going to realize that i was just a little bit different, that i was just a little bit more open than they are. soon after arriving, my fears were calmed. they noticed...boy did they ever notice. i was that little girl from dallas with the big mouth...not to be taken badly. everyone (thank god) loved me!! and, as odd as this was, everyone wanted to know who i was and wanted to talk to me, just to hear my funny accent. just for the record, i don't think i have a funny accent, but then again, i am a true-to-the-heart texan, born and raised proudly! i DO say words such as ya'll and ain't and fixin to. i'm loud, i'm proud and i'm fun-that's why they loved me!!!

thursday:

we, being my parents and i, arrived in evansville around 1 or so, grabbed some lunch and hit our hotel so i could take a MUCH needed nap. 6 came around and i was awake, checking into UE to begin my weekend. in the pit, the commons area between two dorms, i met lots of different people, only a few of which i can remember their names now. of course, i remember the ones that made an impression on my mind. then, around 9 or so, i met the person whom i plan to room with. jen harseim, a volleyball player from illinois, walked into the room with aaron, an OL (orientation leader), and i just started talking to her. we instantly clicked...it was GREAT! so i had a roommate and i soon had a few friends that i could go out with. i met jed and kellen, two soccer guys from rockford, seth, from indiana and dave, from, i don't know where, but he was rather quiet anyways, and we piled into seth's two door alero, along with jed, for a drive down to the ohio river...needless to say, it was a BLAST!!! the people made it fun...tons of fun. we were up until 12:30, which was rather early for me...but oh well. i retired to my room, only to find that i had someone in there!! it was kinda funny...she woke up and i was there in the morning.

friday-

LONG LONG LONG LONG day. not a bad day, dont' get me wrong, it was fun, but it was LONG, with lots of stuff to do. after all the day's activities were through there was a dance in the fitness center gym for all the SOAR (summer orientation and academic registration, cute, huh?) students and the OLs. it was fun, as jen and i both love to dance, and my ghettoness came out...texas girls know how to dance...just for the record. i'm not bragging, because i'm nowhere near the best dancer, but i can hold my own. well, i pulled this random guy, mike, onto the floor, and he later invited me to go to the sig ep house with him...i had no idea who anyone was, so who was i to turn down this invite?!? i was there! i ran into a couple people i probably shouldn't have seen...a couple OLs, a very drunk jed, kellen, and seth and dave as i was leaving. it was fun...i met more people that i didn't know and i don't remember, but i DID have someone make an impression on me. all night he escorted me around the sig ep house, which was nice because 1-i didn't know anyone and 2-he was a sig ep! great for exposure. turns out ben and i had lots in common, he introduced me around...and he pampered me for an hour or so. i was the new girl...i LOVE it!! ben had to jet from sig ep house, as he was an OL and wasn't supposed to be there, so i left with him. he's an awesome person, i had so much talking to him. back at the pit, i did my schedule, then hung around with jen and a few other people while dave and ben played their guitars and everyone sang along. 3am came around and we were still up...it was great! me, jen, like, 2 other SOAR people and a handful of OLs that could stand the night...it was a BLAST. 3:30 and i was OUT.

saturday-

YAWN. that's all i have to say. my 3am morning was kicking my ass come 7...it was hard as hell to drag my butt out of bed. but that's exactly what i did...i dragged my butt out. registration was the highlight of the day...i got exactly what i wanted and i was HAPPY! after registration was check out...but before that i talked with ben. he found out that i wasn't leaving until sunday...that i would be in evansville that night. he extended an invite to the sig ep house for me and me alone...i was special!! but i was a tired abby...i ate lunch with the rents then crashed at the hotel until 7. dinner, then more sleep! ben reassured me that if i couldn't go that night that we would definately get together when i came back this fall. i'm psyched about that!!!

sunday-

nothing special...came home, only to find out that aaron HAD called me back...thursday night...read above. i left thursday morning...hmmm...coincidence? who knows, who cares? not i!

that was my indiana weekend...i'm ready to go back! i LOVED it!!! but i REALLY don't want to leave my nat, kris and my parents...and my joey is leaving me the 17th of july!!! that's really sad...i'm gonna miss that boy like crazy!

it's time for clean time for abby...

take care and remember to show love to tweety...

A long long time ago

I can still remember how that music used to make me smile

And I knew if I had my chance

That I could make those people dance

And maybe they'd be happy for a while.
